For this first post on the new Rendezvous blog, I decided to feature one of my favorite all-time soundtrack cues, and that is ‘Leggenda’ by Fiorenzo Carpi & Bruno Nicolai. This track is off the score to Romano Scavolini’s 1972 giallo film, Un bianco vestito per Marialé (A White Dress for Mariale). The entire score is great, but ‘Leggenda’ is the real standout for me with its beautiful melody, harpsichord, strings, woodwinds, and French horn! It’s an absolutely divine piece and has been featured on, I’m sure, several of my mixes over the years. As a matter of fact, it’s the last cue of my segment for our Reel Cinesound project we did a few years ago with our buddy Jimmie Gonzalez (Spacetoonz).
This soundtrack was originally released on the Gemelli label in 1975 and is not terribly difficult to find. That said, I would love to see this record get a beautiful reissue one day. It truly deserves it. That said, if anybody reading this does decide to reissue it, please know that I would love to contribute the OBI notes for it!
